Writings on the Wall

So as I went to use the restroom in the library of my HBCU (Historically Black College or University) institution. Nothing out of the ordinary there. But as I often do simply to keep myself briefly entertained I read the inscriptions on the stall. Typically they are comprised of a series of girls' names combined with their reputations, etc. Sometimes there are city names on there about what ward someone is representing. In Atl. we claim cities, neighborhoods, and zones in that order. And it would say something like "My name Lil Buddy 4rm dat Ben Hill Westside Zone 4 shawty." And it would be transcribed like this on bathroom stalls, sidewalks, notebooks, downtown buildings. Generally whatever, one could get their hands on. But this is not at all about the culture of vandalizing public property for the glorification of one's hometown or community. The interesting things was the message that read "WE HATE NIGGERS" accompanied by the Nazi regime's insignia on the wall. As I said, I attend an HBCU, where the great majority of students who attend are of African American ethnicity. There are only a few members of other races represented on our campus. Consequently, it left me to wonder who could have wrote it? Who could be walking around this university secretly despising our very being. There were a few responses written to the note on the stall wall, however my concern is moreso for they that should find themselves in an enclosed environment with a sadist who has the will enough to surround themselves with that which they loathe entirely. Furthermore, what kind of a world are we living in where racist charlatans can permeate amongst the masses masquerading as though they are in pursuit of knowledge when in fact they may be responsible for furthering the spread of ignorance through their own predisposed suppositions made by factions of hate. The Nazi party I have not studied in-depth I admit. However, what I do know is what has been taught by the school system. That is, they were led by Adolf Hitler who called for the mass genocidal extermination of Jewish persons. If there is an individual or multiple individuals masquerading as one who has embraced and accepted America's dreadful past. How perfect a depiction that writing on the wall was. As America continues to deny the fact there is a race relation problem in this country, as many black legislators still call for reparations we call for action as the Jena 6 and the woman abused in Virginia are proof that tensions are building and without some form of acknowledgement the foundation of one of the world's Superwpowers was built on the backs of the systematically oppressed another sect of the population. ::Singing:: "My country tis of thee. Land of liberty. That'll never be. Not in this America."
